Take in the magnificence of the Ghost River area bordering Banff National Park and unlock a world where every turn on the trail offers an unforgettable backcountry adventure. This area has been the winter grazing grounds for Brewster horses since the early 1900s. Over the years, the family has run as many as 600 head of horses, but today only runs about 150. Thoughts today will wander back to a time long ago as you continue to ‘Live the Lore of the West’.
Our meticulously curated two and four-day horseback tours are more than just rides; they are a passage through the splendour of Alberta's backcountry, offering some of the most stunning views the Rockies have to offer.
Rustic log cabins at Meadow Creek (Brewster Company Ranch) and the old Hussey's cabins offer a haven from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Log Cabin Accommodations
We provide rustic log, backcountry cabins along the Old Horse Drive Trail used by the Brewster Family for over 100 years to bring horses to pasture in Meadow Creek.
Hussey’s: This camp is named after Fred Hussey, who settled here in the early 1920s to escape from it all. It consists of five rider cabins with two beds in each cabin, two outhouses, and a kitchen cabin. All cabins are equipped with sleeping bags, sheets, and pillows. There is a washstand area to clean up after your adventure and a campfire to relax by and recount your day.
Meadow Creek: A set of backcountry cabins are located at Meadow Creek, the Brewster Company Ranch. Meadow Creek accommodations consist of five rider cabins with three beds in each cabin, two outhouses, and a kitchen cabin. All the cabins are again equipped with sleeping bags, sheets, and pillows. Meadow Creek also has a washstand area and an area available for evening campfires.
Trip Information
Guests will enjoy amenities such as home-cooked meals, a horse and saddle, experienced guides, and cabin accommodations. Brewster Adventures takes pride in providing quality food, great service, and the backcountry adventure of a lifetime.
Our horseback riding trips travel along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains bordering Banff National Park. For those asking for specific location information, we are also along the Ghost River Natural area and near the southern tip of Lake Minnewanka and Black Rock Mountain.
All trips depart at 9:00 a.m. from the Kananaskis Ranch. Please ensure that you check in by 8:30 a.m. the morning of your scheduled departure.
There is no opportunity to gallop as the terrain is often steep and heavily treed, with many ups and downs. All rides are at a walking pace.
Brewster's Kananaskis Ranch is located 30 minutes east of Banff and 45 minutes west of Calgary. Look for large green highway signs off the No.1 Trans-Canada Highway to Kananaskis Ranch and the villages of Seebe and Exshaw. EXIT 114. Please take the entrance to the Kananaskis Ranch Golf Course and turn left before crossing the cattle guard. You are welcome to leave your vehicle at the Ranch.
Before departing on horseback riding trips, all guests must sign an indemnity waiver. All waivers must be witnessed by a Brewster Mountain Pack Trains employee and require your complete mailing address and signature. For guests under 18, a parent and/or guardian will also be required to sign the waiver.
Rates
$550 per person/day, plus 5% Goods and Services Tax.

2-Day Packtrip - $1100.00, plus GST of $55.00
4-Day Packtrip - $2200.00, plus GST of $110.00
A deposit is required to secure your reservation at the time of booking. Gift certificates are also available.
